Hello - Welcome to my blog, where I review movies, games and even occasionally write stories!
This will be a short and sweet post that explains this blog's purpose. I am just a film lover like many other people out there. I love movies, and video games not only for entertainment, but for the admiration and appreciation I have for the art of film. My favorite films of all time are quite interesting. In no specific order, my first one is the recent film, Godzilla (2014) from earlier this May. I myself am a self proclaimed Godzilla fan - a big one at that. I love the character of Godzilla and his amazing features. I own almost every film, and this 2014 one would be my first on the big screen. (I missed the 2000 release of Godzilla: Millennium) I love this film's cast, story and visual effects. They all bind together to make a spectacular adventure that I got to experience on opening night in an IMAX theater. Another one I love is Jaws (1975). This one goes without saying - the film's likable characters, gripping suspense and overall subtlety make it an amazing example of a well-crafted film. I also love Saving Private Ryan (1998), because of it's incredible attention to detail, outstanding set design, wonderful performances and gritty portrayal of World War 2. Up next is the classic everyone loves, Jurassic Park (1993) - simply because of how fun it is. It has a whimsical tone, great effects, likable characters and a real sense of fun. The next one is The Last Samurai (2003) - I am not the biggest fan of Tom Cruise , but I still liked him in this. The overall dark tone and great performances by Ken Watanabe and Cruise make for an actual "epic" story of real warriors. My final one is Letters from Iwo Jima (2006) I saw this movie before I saw The Last Samurai, so this was the film that made me love Ken Watanabe. Seeing war through the Japanese soldier's eyes is amazing in this film, due to the great acting and story telling. My favorite actors are Bryan Cranston, Ken Watanabe, Ed Harris, Gary Oldman, Tom Hanks and Robert Shaw. I enjoy spending time swimming, reading, writing, day dreaming, playing guitar, listening to soundtracks and sitting outside. My favorite book is Stephen Ambrose's Band of Brothers. I also like playing video games, and my favorites include Grand Theft Auto V, Call of Duty: World At War, Borderlands 2, Batman: Arkham City, and The Walking Dead. I hope you enjoy my blog - leave comments below to ask for a film you would like me to review. I'm James Raymond, and I review for you! Have a great day!
